I had a super fun weekend with my cousins at a scrapbooking weekend. I really hadn’t done any scrapbooking of my thousands upon hundreds of thousands of pictures for years, so I figured forcing myself to go would get me jumpstarted. Did it ever! It was so much fun going through all of my son’s wedding photos..from five years ago…and laughing with the cousins and meeting some super nice people.
Bad news, my cell phone has disappeared. From the face of da-Earth.
I had it on Wednesday when my friend called to tell me that her thyroid tumor was cancerous. I picked it up off the end table and talked to her and I haven’t seen it since. Could I have flushed it down the torlet after talking to her in some mind-fugue of empathy? I’m pretty sure I didn’t.
But I can’t find it. Damn. I have tried calling it, but I remember turning it off, so it won’t answer. 😛
It was almost brand new. It was a smartphone. If I can’t even keep track of a smartphone I think I’ll just have them restart up my old phone and forget joining the techno generation. 😛

I just went out and shuffled around in the straw of the goathouse to see if I stumbled over it.

The scrap-booking sounds like a lot of fun! I think it is inspiring to scrapbook together. My daughters like to do that, scrap-booking together sometimes.
I am so sorry about your new phone. That is a heartbreak. Have you checked with your service to see if the phone has been used since then? I hope you find it!!!

Well dear, you and me both…. I lost my digital camera somewheres, maybe at the Diwali party on Saturday. I was thinking of getting a new camera anyway because the old one wasn’t focusing properly, but still, I think of all the photos on the card and wince.
I second LBreeze’s suggestion: check the couch and the cushion before you give up. Also make sure your kids didn’t pocket it “by mistake.” Mine are always making off with my stuff, and I have to tackle them to get it all back.
They ought to make the smart phones jingle every so often if they are not picked up and fondled every twelve hours or so. That could be a cool new design feature.
They sure should. It should be hollering “Hey! Where did everybody go? Hey! I’m down here! Hey!!!…..”

The scrapbooking sounds like a lot of fun – I love “discovering” photos that I haven’t looked at in years.
Can you go back in your mind to your movements after the phone call – I’ve often found things in strange places if I just concentrate on what I did and where I went.
I keep trying and trying….I get as far as the conversation with my friend and then a dim remembrance of checking the weather for the weekend on it.
Then I just thought I had taken it to it’s charging spot. Next time I looked for it, it wasn’t there. Arrrrrgh!
I don’t do scrapbooking but it really looks like fun. I always stare and covet the miniature thingies in packets at the craft store–tiny tiny tiny!
They should make not-so-smart phones for people like us… Srsly, maybe if/when someone finds it, they’ll call you, or call someone in your directory. That’s what we do at work. Ha! Actually, we look in the directories of lost phones for “Mom” and call that number. “Hi, Mom, this is the ____ Library and we’re calling from your child’s lost cell phone. Who’s your kid so we can email them?”
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend… I read that post but don’t remember if I commented. You said it’s treatable, is that right?
Yes, thyroid cancer is the very best cancer to have. It’s 95-99% cureable and no chemo…just take Iodine 131 to destroy any thyroid cells. That’s it!
So, it’s ok. But, it’s the last time I used my cell phone. What the hell did I do with it?!?
Sounds like a good weekend and I don’t doubt you went shit-crazy with shock and sadness at your friend’s call…I’m sure everyone in the world has suggested ringing yourself?
Yes, the dear thing is turned off. I vaguely remember turning it off with the intent to plug it into it’s charger. After that it’s all a blur….

I asked dogs, cats, son, husband…..no help! My cousin told me that she once found hers in the freezer. I looked there, too. 😉
I got about a third of the way through scrapbooking my son’s wedding, which was five years ago. It was tremendous progress!
How about the guinea peegs? Did you check with them? The fridge?

How very sad for your friend. Well…if you do not find the phone, I recommend a Samsung, hands down have only owned those and the one time I did not I regretted it.

We have a friend who does some wonderful scrapbooking. Old boring photo albums replaced by stunning works of art. Good luck with your hobby.
It’s in the freezer, or near there.
