Great news!

I noticed a huge lump on Reuben’s rear leg near his hock. It was hard as bone. Ken did not like the looks of it. Reub is our lab that has lived the longest. Our first lab, Vinnie, died at age 2 of seizures. Our second lab, Chip, died at 10 of liver cancer.  Reuben just turned 11, so every day with him is a bonus!

Anyway, Ken took him in today and xrayed the lump. It’s a bony protuberance, probably  from Reub hitting it on something. It’s not a bone tumor! Yay!

    That is GREAT NEWS!!!!! YAY!!!!!

btw, Reuben looks relieved, too. Or did he just eat some meat pie?

Lol. He probably just had a biscuit in this picture. He was too sleepy to come home at lunch time, so he should be home in about an hour. (He got sedated to get his teeth cleaned, too.)

  2. Tell Reuben I have the same thing on the inside of my right ankle, the result of hitting the leg on a metal table. It hurts sometimes, especially when the weather gets damp and cold. But yay for no tumor! That’s scary when an older pet gets an “odd” lump. Even if you know you shouldn’t jump to conclusions, it’s hard not to think it’s the big C.

I immediately “went there”. He’s home now, and resting. He has nice clean teeth and a painless lump on his leg. He didn’t like going to work with daddy. 😛

Maybe you shouldn’t have told Reub to “like it or lump it!” hahahahaha.

I’m glad he has clean teef now too.

Mr. LT’s parents had a mostly-Lab who lived to 16(!) with minimal vet care. So the Reubenator might be with us a while longer.

Yay Reuben! He has good reason to stick around in that household. May he have more happy and healthy years with the rest of his buddies!

Older dogs are so prone to random lumps. They also get these harmless but alarming-looking fatty deposits.

Oh, they sure are! And Calli, my old Great Dane, had dozens of lumps and warts. I would say “Cal, you are all lumpy and warty.” and she would think that was the funniest thing ever.
When Calli died my neighbor actually asked “Did she die from all those lumps?”
I was like…”Um, no, she was really old.”

    He’s looking pretty spry for a 10yo!

    Great news indeed!

He has a sitter’s bump! Like a writer’s bump only lower! Good news, YAY, Reuben!

Yay!!! Aw, I hope you have many more days with the lucky guy. His bed looks very soothing for a bony bottom.
