All settled down for a long winter’s nap.

There isn’t much room on the loveseat once Orion takes up residence. Sometimes Sheldon wants to sleep up there, too. A solution was found. Cover Orion up with a nice thick throw and then Sheldon just thinks he is sleeping on a self warming couch.

100_0819My dad came over this week and pulled up the carpet in the “kitten room” and replaced it with a Pergo look alike. It will be so much easier to keep clean, now! Β Orion was very helpful (read “in the way”) as he is completely fascinated by anyone doing anything.

100_0822This next picture shows what his ears did when the drill came on.

100_0823BOING!

And, the finished room! Lovely! 100_0825The litterboxes are in the photo to prove this room belongs to the kittens and to my scrapbooking shtuff! πŸ™‚

Oooohhhh… nice floor! I fantasize about wood/laminate floors once in awhile.
Orion & Sheldon are sooo cute!

Thanks! We are slowly getting rid of all carpet in the house. It holds so much dust/who knows what, and dog and cat excrements/vomits are easier to clean up! Viola!

I put industrial carpet in the primary cat room, hoping that would make cleanup easier. It was okay till the kitties decided to pee & have diarrhea 6″ from the litter boxes… that stuff does not like to clean up easily!!

        • We put down linoleum that looks like wood, and are very happy with the look and the durability. We plan to eventually put it throughout the house, since the kitties STILL insist on puking ONLY on the areas that are still carpeted.

          • Lauri says:

Well, Teagan is scared of the new floor, so she has been sleeping in the basement with Eli and Gree. Stringbean gets the new floor all to himself!

I figured it was going to have to be an “all or nothing” transition. Personally, I get amused just thinking about my cats slipsliding all over the place when they no longer have carpet to grab!

    So cute! Great floor.

  3. Orion looks like a giant Shetland pony standing behind your father! Or a Holstein calf—especially when his ears go up. I hope you get to enjoy using that room as much as the kitties do. It looks like a natural place for crafts or sewing!

    • Lauri says:

The kittens sleep there at night. Every cat has it’s sleeping place. Stops “territorial” peeing. I have been getting more scrapbooking done, but I’m still not very self-motivating. Mostly stuff gets stored there. πŸ˜›

Great floor. Also awesome that your dad can still do such things at his age.

You have everything organized. Not the scrapbooking supplies, but you’ve got your dogs stacked up so they take up less space! Bet Martha never thought of that!

    • Lauri says:

Haha! Stacking dogs! You’re right. That’s a first!
My dad just got done re-doing the floor at my sister’s in Chicago, so he was all gung-ho to do this floor. He’s awesome.

Sheldon always knows the best seat in the house! Orion’s ears are so cute! The floor looks nice, good job Dad!

  6. Lily says:

Love those EARS! I’ve got knock-off pergo in my bedroom.

Looks great! We got rid of the last of the carpets in our house last year and man, does it make a difference in keeping things clean (and smelling clean).

I want Orion to come stay at our house for a while so he and Penny can play. πŸ™‚

Love love love the photos! And the ears!
Replacing my carpet, at least in the living room, is a priority for this year. BSG is on it for coordinating and I just have to stop spending money on wine and plane tickets so I can fund the project. That’s a lot harder than it sounds!

  9. GOF says:

Orion reminds me so much of our Kebba…..especially the ears which do the same thing when she’s watching all the parrots sqwarking around on the lawn every morning.

  10. How cute. They look like very good friends.

  11. I didn’t realize he had brown spots. I thought they were all black/gray.

Orion, btw … not you dad.

    lol

    That is wonderful…..
